Dear Parents and Carers,
We welcome back our Year 6 students and staff from their Canberra trip last week. It was definitely a memorable adventure, one that truly develops life skills and provides real world connections.
Next week, our Year 4 students are off to Tunnel Ridge, for their camp, where they’ll enjoy personal challenges and team building experiences.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff that help plan and prepare these camps, as well as the team who go with them to ensure a safe and positive experience. They sacrifice their family time (and some sleep) to help provide our children with experiences that we know grow character and resilience.
Prep Fun Run
The initial threat of rain did not dampen the ‘can do’ spirit of our Preppies as they ran, jumped, skipped, crawled, and leapt their way to the finish line of the Fun Run on Monday. Thank you Mr Mac for organising a spectacular event for our Prep students to showcase some of the fundamental movement skills that they have been focusing on during Term 1. Our Year 6 leaders served by assisting at this event, demonstrating patience and care in their approach. It was an excellent display of our Character Virtues in action.
Under 8s Day
Under 8s day is coming up for our Prep and Stage 1 students. Please see all the details on the flyer attached. There will be a sausage sizzle available for all, pre-orders can be placed by using the link under the flyer.

Mother’s Day – Community Event
Attention Mums and Motherly heroes!
One of our most special events of the year is coming up. Our Mother’s Day Community night is for all families. Mums, take the night off from cooking and entertaining the kids. Come and relax, watching a movie under the night sky, while we serve unlimited pizza. Please refer to the flyer for all booking details.
Faith In Our Future - Law Reforms
On 21 March, the Australian Law Reform Commission released a set of recommendations that are an appalling attack on faith and freedom of belief in Australia. If the Government accepts these ALRC recommendations, it means Christian schools won’t have the freedom to preference people who share the same Christian values and beliefs when making employment decisions.
As Paul Kelly also noted, "Religious education, its communities and parental discretions would be weakened long term." You can read more here.
The good news is the Federal Government has not yet made its position clear but we need to send a clear message to the Prime Minister that Christian schools must be able to employ people who share our faith.
Faith In Our Future is a town hall event that will bring together supporters of Christian schools and their representatives in parliament.
These events are an opportunity to share about the impact of Christian faith in our schools, to share our concerns with our Federal political representatives and ask for their support.
If you want the Government to continue to value the faith of Christian teachers and staff, you need to be there!

ANZAC College Service & ANZAC Day March
Today, we were able to stop and honour those who have served, and are serving, through our ANZAC service. We are blessed to have our local veterans so invested in ensuring the ANZAC story is repeated to the younger generations. It was an honour to have Ross Gowers, Terry McDougal & Doug Thoresen attend our service today.
We encourage all our Junior School families to participate in the local Springwood ANZAC March that is on tomorrow morning. This is a tradition for Calvary. Students arrive dressed in their full formal uniform, including their hat, and as a college, we march in the ANZAC Parade along Cinderella Drive.
Students of all year levels, Prep – Year 12 are invited to take part.
We form up at Logan East Community and Neighbourhood Centre, Cinderella Drive at 7:15am. The march steps off at 7:45am to Springwood Park and the ANZAC Day Service will commence at Springwood Park at 8:30am. Please see further information and a location map via the links below.
We have a new banner ready to march with. I’m looking forward to commemorating this special day with our Calvary and local community. I hope to see you there.
