Dr Judith Locke Parent Session & Student Disco

Thurs 19 February @ 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Essential questions to ask yourself to check that your Primary child is on track.

The primary years are often a tricky period to get right with children, as they are often becoming both more and less mature, their emotions are a little more up and down the older they get, and their interests and personality might seem to change… from day to day! So how can you get through this period of change with positivity and success, and ensure that everyone still likes each other at the conclusion?

Clinical Psychologist, Dr Judith Locke, is returning to offer this follow up session to parents of primary students. In this session, Judith will use latest research and clinical experience to show practical, positive, and effective strategies parents can use to check on their child’s progress and help their child successfully get through the developmental changes of these different ages and stages while maintaining family harmony.

**This is a Parent Only session, and a student disco will be on at the same time for Prep to Stage 3 students.

Head of School Community & Wellbeing, Carbrook Junior School - Zoe O'Donnell

Dear Calvary Families,

What a wonderful start to the year it has been! Our students have returned with so much energy, enthusiasm and positivity, and it has been a joy to welcome them back into our school community. We are especially pleased with how smooth and calm the first week has been, with students settling into routines, reconnecting with friends and engaging beautifully in learning.

As we begin the term, we encourage families to take a few moments to revisit our key routines and expectations so we can start the year strong. Please take some time to read through our updated Parent Manual and Facebook expectations (attached in links) to help support a smooth and positive start for your child. If you have a child in Stage 2 or 3 who enjoys accessing the MPC at break times, please help them establish a routine to bring sports shoes on their formal uniform days.

Bus Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the past few days, the College’s RollCall Bus App has experienced technical difficulties. The service provider has advised the College that these issues have now been resolved, and the system is once again functional. Parents are now able to make bookings and add credit.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience.

Please note the following requirements when utilising the Bus Service:

  • Bookings are required for every trip
  • RollCall accounts are required to be in credit at all times
  • Students are required to use their RollCall tag/fob when boarding and disembarking the bus — failure to do so will result in a $5 per day admin charge
  • New students who do not yet have a fob/bus tag will be given grace (no admin charge applied) while we await the arrival of new stock
  • Bus term passes (with a 10% discount) are available. Please email bus@calvarycc.qld.edu.au for more information
  • Please contact bus@calvarycc.qld.edu.au for any queries

CAPA Update

Over the holiday period Dr Gary Holley tendered his resignation finishing on Friday 6 February. Following an internal recruitment process, the College Executive agreed to appoint Mrs Kerryn Vezos to the role in an Acting capacity for the duration of 2026.

We appreciate the work of Dr Holley over the past few years rebuilding and expanding the music and music performance program to a point that gives students many opportunities to build and express their creativity.

Kerryn is well known to many of you and we have confidence that she will lead the music program at Calvary building on the foundation Gary has left us and contributing her own talents and leadership qualities.
