Head of Community & Welfare, Junior School - Zoe O'Donnell
Dear Parents and Carers,
Yesterday’s Prep and Stage 1 Athletics Carnival was a wonderful celebration! Thank you to Mr Linning and our Year 6 students for leading a memorable event, and to the staff and many families who came to cheer on our youngest athletes. It was an outstanding day!
This term, our assembly focus is resilience. We are unpacking what that might look like and sharing stories of resilience from our own community. Our hope is our students may continue to be challenged to move outside of their comfort zone, actively pursuing things that provide challenge and help them to grow.
Mrs Eksteen reminded our community that we want to be like bouncy balls and jump right back up when we get pushed down, that life will throw challenges our way and so we need to be prepared and most importantly, God is always with us.
This week, I would like to challenge you to ask your child about things they find tough and then resist the urge to help solve the issue for them but rather draw out of them how they can keep moving forward through their challenge.
Prep and Stage 1 Swimming Lesson's Permission
Just a friendly reminder — if you haven’t already done so, please respond to the notification emailed on 5 August to provide permission for your child to attend swimming lessons in Weeks 9 and 10 of this term.
College Group Photos
On 20 August 2025, Calvary will host their Calvary Group Photo day. Photos will include key leadership positions in Junior School, our Year 12 group photo, Show Team, JAG, and the Junior School musical. We will provide students who enrolled at the College after our school portrait photo day a chance to have professional photographs taken on this day. Students involved in these photographs will be required to wear their full formal uniform for all photographs except for Show Team, JAG, or musical. The attached letter provides further guidelines for the photo day and the schedule.
Book Week
Book Week is next week, with various activities scheduled throughout the week. The celebration will culminate in our annual Book Week Dress-Up Parade.
Students are encouraged to dress up as an appropriate book character on Friday 22 August and, where possible, bring the book that relates to their character.
