Head of Junior School Carbrook - Zoe O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week at our Junior School assembly, we continued to unpack our formation theme for the term — Friendology. Mrs Turvey worked with students to explore the idea of “friendship fires” — those small conflicts or misunderstandings that can sometimes occur between friends. Importantly, students were encouraged to see these moments not as failures, but as opportunities to learn and grow in their relationships.

Together, they discussed practical strategies to begin putting out these “fires” independently. These included using calm and respectful words to express feelings, taking a break to reset emotions before responding, seeking to understand the other person’s perspective, and working towards a solution rather than placing blame. Building these skills helps students develop confidence in navigating friendships in healthy and positive ways.

As a school, we are committed to equipping students with the tools they need to build strong, respectful relationships, and we encourage families to continue these conversations at home.

Parent Resource from last week: all you need to do is add your details and enter Calvary Christian College using the following link:  For Parents | URSTRONG .

Thank you for your ongoing support as we nurture connected and capable learners.

Please Note: There will be no Assembly next week due to the Musical matinee.

Reggie Dabbs - Stages 2-6

We are pleased to share that Reggie Dabbs will be visiting our school to present to students. Reggie is an internationally recognised  christian speaker who works with schools to encourage young people in areas such as resilience, identity, decision making and making positive choices. His message is engaging and age appropriate, connecting with students through storytelling and personal experience. He challenges students to reflect on their choices, recognise their value and consider the positive impact they can have on others. We look forward to this opportunity for our students to engage with a message that supports their wellbeing and personal growth.

CAPA Update

Orchestra Performance at Springwood

Our amazing Calvary Orchestra had the honour of playing for the Springwood Campus Assembly yesterday.  The students in Orchestra range from Year Four to Year Eleven, and are from both campuses.  It is wonderful to share with the younger students. They played the National Anthem, Anthem for a New World, and Mission Impossible.  It’s wonderful to share how good our musicians can sound, after years of learning and dedication to practicing.  Thanks to Miss Dekker and Mr Judge Mears for organizing and conducting our Band Programs and Orchestra.
