Parent Session - Dr Judith Locke

Building Confident & Capable Kids

Wednesday 16 & 17 July

We are delighted to welcome Dr Judith Locke, clinical psychologist, parenting expert, and author of The Bonsai Child and Raising Anxiety, to speak with our parent community.

Dr Locke specialises in practical, research-backed strategies that help children become more confident, resilient, and independent. Drawing on her extensive experience with families and schools, Dr Locke will share insights into:

  • Encouraging healthy independence in children
  • Setting effective boundaries and routines
  • Managing anxiety and building resilience
  • Fostering motivation, responsibility, and problem-solving skills
  • Practical advice about topics such as navigating homework and managing the busy morning routine.

Dr Locke’s advice is engaging and highly actionable—offering reassurance and tools for parents navigating the challenges of raising children in today’s world.

We invite all parents to attend these valuable sessions and learn how to support your children in becoming capable, adaptable, and confident young people.

Child minding will be available on both nights, with fun and supervised activities. On the first night, children can enjoy a Junior School Disco and Movie, while the second night will feature a relaxed Movie session. Snacks and drinks will be provided each evening. Head of Junior School - Springwood, Michelle Sprenger

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has reminded us of the strength and heart of our Calvary community.  Thank you for the incredible generosity you have shown—volunteering your time, baking for staff, and helping restore our campus after unexpected vandalism.  Your practical support, kindness, and care have been a tangible blessing and a powerful reminder of the values we share.

We also recognise the disruption caused by the unexpected school closure, and we are truly grateful for your flexibility and understanding in making alternative arrangements at short notice.

Your partnership is a reflection of the values we share at Calvary—authentic care for others, a commitment to excellence, and a spirit of resilience and hope.
