Dear Parents and Carers,

Creativity

We are in full swing already. Our Celebration rehearsals have begun, and it is such a delight to see the students engaging in their favourite cocurricular activities. Creativity is not only our inquiry theme but also one of the Learning Habits being focused on this term. We can already see the impact this is having as the students contribute their creative questions, insight and ideas to classroom conversation and their playground fun. Perhaps you could ask your child how they have been creative this week?

End of Year Awards Services

As the end of the year approaches, we take time to look back and celebrate the achievement and growth of our students in many different areas. This year Junior School students will be recognised during an Awards Assembly, Sports Award evening, CAPA Soiree, and Celebration. Please see the letter attached outlining the awards that will be presented at each of these events. If your child is receiving andaward at any of these events, you will receive an email alerting you to this.

Celebration

The end of year Celebration event is definitely a favourite. If you are new to the campus and this is your first Celebration experience as a family, we look forward to sharing this time with you. In preparation, we have engaged with the team from Creative Dance Industries to run weekly choreography sessions with each stage. This is a valuable opportunity for students to develop their movement and dance skills which aligns with The Arts in the Australian Curriculum. Students will rehearse over the coming weeks until our Celebration event - held outdoors on the Junior School oval on Thursday 23 November. Please pray for good weather. It is always a joy-filled way to end the year together as a community.

Sport Aerobics

This week and next, students have the opportunity to participate in a free Sports Aerobics session. We will be running Sports Aerobics as a user pays cocurricular club during break times from next year. Carbrook Middle School are also looking to run this so all students Prep-Year 6 are welcome to try it out. Our first session was yesterday and next Wednesday, at first break, another trial session will be held at the undercover area.

Parent and Teen/Tween Presentation

Parents, don’t miss tonight's opportunity to learn and grow together. You can still register for our latest session, Understanding the Adolescent Brain and Mental Health, held live at the Carbrook campus tonight, Thursday 12 October.  Please see information below.

Created to be Creative is the powerful message coming through our Chapel services this term. We love sharing this time with the children and parents and family members are always welcome. Chapel alternates with Assembly each Wednesday from 2:15pm at the church if you’d like to come along.

Parent Presentation - Thursday 12 October

Understanding the Adolescent Brain & Mental Health Parent Session

We have invited our local Ed-LinQ psychologist to facilitate a Parent & Tween/Teen session about the adolescent brain, and signs to watch for that might indicate your child requires further support.
We’d now like to extend this invitation to our teens/tweens. This is a great opportunity for them to learn more about their brain, and start healthy conversations about adolescent mental health and well-being within our families.

Thursday 12 Oct @ 6pm - Carbrook Campus

Register online here: https://www.trybooking.com/CLFXH

If you require child minding, there will be a 'G' rated supervised movie screening.
