Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term 4!
We have an exciting term ahead, as well as our rich inquiry unit, Connection, we have some key events to look forward to. The Term flyer was sent home earlier this week to help our families prepare for the term ahead. You can always check the school calendar via the app or website, and you will find the finer details of our events here, in weekly communications.
Term 4 Unit Overviews - Connection
This term, the overarching concept for our inquiry is Connection. Prep will explore their connection to the environment and special places around us, Stage 1 are investigating their connection to the past and have an exciting excursion planned to Beenleigh Historical Village later in the term. Stage 2 are exploring geographical connections between Australia and other countries, and Stage 3 are taking it personal – looking at their connection to vital resources, comparing their needs and wants to those of children around the world. You can access the unit overviews in communications today. Please check out how our inquiries can be expanded on at home. We welcome experts from the parent community to come and share their knowledge with us, to expand our thinking and provide real world connections to learning. Reach out to your child’s teacher if you have something to offer. Below is a brief scope of our learning for Term 4;
Prep & Stage 1 Swimming
We are preparing our little ones for their upcoming swimming carnival. Prep and Stage 1 students have begun their swimming lesson blocks. This is where our staff can better understand the different levels of water confidence each child has, which means a safer carnival for all. Parents, we encourage you to come along to the carnival if you can. It is held at the Runcorn Pool on Thursday 24 October. We will be welcoming parent helpers for jobs in the pool and on dry land, so please volunteer if you can. Communication with all the details will come out in the coming weeks.
2025 Musical Update
At the end of last term we announced the 2025 Junior School Musical – Jungle Book for Kids. Audition material was emailed out and yesterday students gave their all in the various categories they are aspiring for. We were blown away by the degree of interest and investment from the students. Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout this process.
End of Year Awards & Services
Each year, we celebrate the achievement and growth of our students at the Awards Assembly. For a break down of the awards as well as dates and times for presentations, please use this link;
Group Photo Day - Next Tuesday 8 October
This coming Tuesday, after the Public Holiday, is Group Photo day. The co-curricular club culture of the Junior School is a vibrant thing, with most students participating in one or more activities throughout the week. You can order group photos as a memento of the variety of clubs your children have experienced. Please refer to the Group Photo letter for more information.
Thank you for a great first week back. We look forward to what the term holds and seeing our families at the various events coming up.
