Dear Parents and Carers

It was wonderful to see so many parents at the Parent Information Evening. Thank you for your time and investment. Something we touched on in the main session was The Learning Pit. This concept refers to the process of learning. Feeling like we are out of our comfort zone is a good sign that we are stretching and growing… learning! As we and our students (because we are all learners) move through stages in The Learning Pit we find opportunities to make meaning; think critically, sort and sequence ideas, and connect new information to our current understanding. If you’d like to know more about The Learning Pit you can find it here: https://www.learningpit.org/guide/at-home/

If you missed a Parent Information session, please see links below for the information for each Stage.

Co – Curricular Clubs

The clubs roster is below and can be found all around the school for the students to refer to. Clubs are a great way for students to get to know each other, other staff in the school and stretch into their areas of passion.  Please note Piccolo's will commence in Week 5.

Happy Hens Tuckshop Volunteers

We are working towards opening Happy Hens very soon and in preparation for this, we have begun the quest of seeking volunteers. Putting your name down on the tuckshop roster is a fabulous way to get to know staff and other parents in our community, as well as this, you have the joy of seeing students faces light up in delight as they receive their tuckshop orders, (if you didn’t know, our tuckshop is a new thing!). There is some training required for tuckshop volunteers.

Please email Sheryl if you can assist on any day/any week this term.  sheryl.deoliveira@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

Stage 2&3 Swimming Carnival

Please see the letter attached with all the relevant information about our upcoming Stage 2 & 3 Swimming Carnival. The students will be nominating themselves for races tomorrow, Friday 2 February.

We are anticipating a fun day in the sun and pool.  Parents are very welcome to come and support or assist with the running of the day!  Please email Mr McInnes if you are able to help.  tim.mcinnes@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

Leader Induction Assembly

At the beginning of each new year, we re-introduce our Captains, Prefects, and Year 6 leaders to the school community. At our Leader Induction Assembly this coming Wednesday, Year 6 students will be receiving their badges. There is always an open invitation to our parents and family member to join our Assembly and Chapel services, held each Wednesday afternoon at Real Life Church from 2:15pm.

Uniform Check In

Now we are all settled into the new school term, we are looking at some general uniform codes such as students’ hair and shoes. Students should be wearing the appropriate shoes with each uniform. No sport shoes with the formal uniform and please refrain from purchasing Mary Jane shoes (with buckles). Our guidelines for hair, (for all students), ask that hair be off the face, fringes above the eyebrows. You can read the full uniform guide for hair, jewellery and other items in the parent manual on our website, or use this link:  Parent Manual

We have had a few staff and students away sick with some of the unpleasant illnesses going around. I know it can be difficult, but please keep your children home if they present with temperatures or are not well. This is the best way to last the distance of our exciting and busy term ahead.

It was lovely to see everyone on campus. We look forward to gathering around Happy Hens again soon.

2024 Student Residential Address Collection

Each year the College is required to submit data for the Student Residential Address Collection (the collection). The collection informs Australian Government school education policy and helps ensure funding for non-government schools is based on need. The information collected is used to inform school funding calculations. It is combined with Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data to calculate a non-government school community’s anticipated capacity to contribute to schooling costs.
