Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to what will be another fantastic term.

The Term flyer was sent home earlier this week to help our families prepare for the term. You can always check the school calendar via the app or website, and you will find the finer details of our events here, in weekly communications.

Term 4 Unit Overviews - Connection

This term, the overarching concept for our inquiry is Connection. Prep will explore their connection to the environment and special places around us, Stage 1 are investigating their connection to the past and have an exciting excursion planned to Beenleigh Historical Village later in the term. Stage 2 are exploring geographical connections between Australia and other countries, and Stage 3 are taking it personal – looking at their connection to vital resources, comparing their needs and wants  to those of children around the world.

You can access the unit overviews in communications today. Please check out how our inquiries can be expanded on at home. We welcome experts from the parent community to come and share their knowledge with us, to expand our thinking and provide real world connections to learning.  Reach out to your child’s teacher if you have something to offer. Below is a brief scope of our learning for Term 4.

Prep & Stage1 Swimming Carnival

Following on from our intensive swimming lesson block last term, Mr Linning is preparing our P-Stage1 swimming carnival which will give our students an opportunity to showcase their swimming strokes and engage in some fun water safety activities.

The Australian Curriculum highlights the importance of students at this stage being familiar with safe water practices and this day provides an authentic opportunity for hands on experience in this area.

Parents, we encourage you to come along to the carnival if you can. It is held at the Bethania Aquatic Centre on Wednesday 9 October. We will be welcoming parent helpers for jobs in the pool and on dry land, so please volunteer if you can by emailing Mr Linning at brendon.linning@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

2025 Musical Update

At the end of last term, we announced the 2025 Junior School Musical – Jungle Book for Kids. Students who will be in Stage 2 & 3 in 2025 have been invited to participate in various roles. Audition material was emailed out and yesterday students gave their all in the various categories they are aspiring for. We were blown away by the degree of interest and investment from the students. Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout this process. More information on additional jobs such as stage support backstage and tech, will be shared early in 2025.
