Dear Parents and Carers

Debating

Wednesday evening was the final round of Junior School debating. Team from both year 5 and year 6 have represented Calvary with excellence. Both of our teams have competed with impressive results, our year 6 team wining the majority of their debates and our Year 5 team receiving positive feedback about the structure of their speeches and their increased ability to deliver with confidence.

Debating allows our students to grow in their public speaking, resilience, critical thinking and collaboration. Recently, we published a blog post, all about the benefits of the debating program available to our students. Have a read here.

CPA Soiree / Sports Awards Evening

On Thursday 7 November we celebrate the efforts and achievement of our Performing Arts and Ensemble members at the CPA Soiree. This event begins at 4:00pm and flows into the Sports Awards evening, which begins at 6.00pm, recognising our Netball, Futsal and Volleyball team members. The flyer below provides further details. Junior school-based Performing Arts and Sports Awards will be presented at the upcoming Awards Assembly service.

Photo Challenge for the End of Year Event

The theme of our Celebration this year is love, and focuses on our key bible verse for 2024 from 1 Peter 4:8. We know God has designed each of us differently, and we show love in many different ways. As Mrs Johnston discussed at assembly, we would love to see a photo of your child showing love. This might be a photo of them doing something for a family member, sharing a hug, or with a gift they have bought for someone. We would like to showcase these photos at our upcoming end of year awards ceremony. Please send your photos to         Jo-ann.Johnson@calvarycc.qld.edu.au by Friday 1 November.

Alumni Students - Photo's for JS Celebrations

We are busy planning our JS Celebration which is focusing on the 40-year anniversary of Calvary. Our hope is to be able to share with our family the mission of Calvary, and how we are called to go out and love others.

We are reaching out to our Alumni Students of the College. We would like to finish our Prep – Stage 1 Celebration with a short video that shows a photo of our Alumni when they were at Calvary, and a photo of them with their family now.

If you would be interested in participating in this video, could you please send the following to Jo Johnson.        Jo-ann.johnson@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

  • A photo of you as a student at Calvary
  • A photo of you with your family now. If you could have a heart in this photo to reinforce this year’s theme of love, that would be amazing (but not necessary)
  • The years you attended Calvary
  • One sentence about what you are doing now.

We are hoping this will powerfully represent the idea that what is started at Calvary continues far beyond when our students leave the College.

Stepping Up to the next Stage

Stepping up to the next stage is a bit of a milestone for our students and it’s our intent to make this a smooth transition. On Friday 22 November, all students will experience time in their 2025 stage and meet a buddy who they can connect with when the new year begins. Our Year 6 students will spend this entire day stepping up to Stage 4 as they settle into the next step in their schooling journey.

Our Celebration event is drawing near. The student’s rehearsals are going so well, and we have costumes coming together. If you haven’t booked your tickets yet, please do ASAP.

Please note students will not need a booked seat for the Celebration session they are performing in. If they are watching a sibling Celebration, they will need a seat booked for that session. Click on the link below for more details.
