Dear Parents and Carers
How much sleep is your teenager getting? We are fast approaching the busy part of term where students will rely on learnt routines and habits to get their study and assessment done. This can be much harder if they are not getting enough sleep. According to research, the average 13-18 year-old child should be getting between 8-10 hours sleep in a 24 hour period. What hinders many of our students from achieving this is access to technology close to bedtime or late into the evening. Wherever possible, we would encourage students not to have smartphones and devices in their bedroom that allow them to access the internet or games late into the evening (or in some cases the early morning).
If you would like some more useful information on sleep and teenagers, this is a helpful website: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/teenagers-and-sleep
Yours sincerely
Josh Wilson
Head of Middle and Senior School and Innovative Learning Design

Middle School Fundraising
As part of our mission to teach our students the art and practice of giving to those less fortunate the Middle School are fundraising for Fishers of Men and Drought Angels to provide hygeine care packs for the communities that they support. The list below provides details of the products that these organisations would appreciate our Calvary community collecting for them:
• roll on deodorant
• soap
• wet wipes
• tissues
• toothbrush
• toothpaste
• hairbrush or comb
• nail clippers
• lip balm
• disposable shaver
• shampoo or body wash
• body lotion
Our Middle school students will be collecting these items from Prep to Year 12 classes for the rest of this term and into next term. Any support from our wonderful community to support those less fortunate would be greatly appreciated.
