Reflection
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to school! I hope you had an enjoyable Easter break with your children and are ready for an exciting and busy term. We have lots on this term and I would like to particularly encourage parents to consider attending Emma Tabacaru’s presentation on parenting students through their sexual development (see detail below) and if your child is in Year 10 attending our Subject Selection evening.
I am also excited to announce that we have began work on our Beach Volleyball precinct and expect to have three beach volleyball courts available for students and sporting groups by the end of term along with shaded seating areas. Look out for updated photos on our Facebook page. Also, if you are not on our Facebook page, please consider joining: https://www.facebook.com/groups/calvaryccmss2023
General Notices
ANZAC Day
This coming Monday, we are holding our school ANZAC service, beginning a 10:15am. Parents are most welcome to attend.
College families are also welcome to participate in the local Springwood ANZAC march that is on ANZAC morning. This is a tradition for Calvary. Students can arrive dressed in their full formal uniform, including their hat, and as a whole college, we march in the ANZAC parade along Cinderella Drive. Students of all year levels, Prep – Year 12 are invited to take part. We form up at Logan East Community and Neighbourhood Centre, Cinderella Drive at 7:15am. The march steps off at 7:45am to Springwood Park and the ANZAC Day Service will commence at Springwood Park at 8:30am. View on map
Parent Teacher Student Interviews
Parent Teacher Student Interviews will be held on 26th April 2023. There is an attachment available in this communication on how to book these interviews. The closing date for booking interviews will be 9am Monday, 24th April. There are three basic questions that are always worth asking your child and their teacher:
- Where are you doing well?
- What can you improve on?
- What steps can you take to improve?

MSS Parent Presentation 4 May 2023
On the 4th May at 6:00pm we will be hosting a parent talk with Emma Tabacaru to discuss how parents can address the topic of sexual development and personal safety with our Middle and Senior School Students. Parents who attended the Junior School event were thoroughly grateful for Emma's presentation this term and we know that this type of presentation will be incredibly valuable to our parents of teenagers.
Please note that we will be hosting a fun evening for students in the Cunningham Pavilion and Year 8 classrooms with a G-rated movie, chess boards, video games and a sausage sizzle. So while parents receive some important information our students can be kept entertained and fed.
Winter Uniform
Just a reminder that Boys will need to have ties for Terms 2 and 3 and students will need to have a jumper or jacket that is appropriate for their respective formal or sports uniform. Please remind your child that they need to wear the appropriate black school shoe with their formal uniform and black or white runners/joggers with their sports uniform.
Changes to Student Medication
The Health Hub can be contacted via email at HealthHub@calvarycc.qld.edu.au. Please utilise this email address if you need to advise of any daily medication changes or for messages for the College Nurse.
