A Communication from Mr Arraiol (Head of Wellbeing and Community):

Cyber Safety

As we enter the term with a focus on cyber safety and prepare for our students to benefit from presentations by Safe on Social on this topic, I thought it pertinent to share the following information from the eSafety Commissioner of Australia. The eSafety Commissioner is an independent authority responsible for promoting online safety for all Australians. Their role includes protecting citizens from online harm, providing resources and education about online safety, and enforcing laws related to cyberbullying and illegal online content.

Given the increasing importance of online safety, it is crucial for parents to be aware of the available resources and actions they can take. If students encounter social media posts that target them as cyberbullying or post sexually explicit photos of them, parents, carers, direct relatives of the students, or the students themselves are able to lodge a request for this content to be taken down. However, as a school, we cannot provide legal authority for the eSafety Commissioner to act on a student's behalf. Therefore, I want to empower all parents and carers to take action if needed, and we sincerely hope you may never need to.

A link to the eSafety Commissioner’s website is provided below for parents to report instances of cyberbullying on social media, potentially have the content removed, and accounts blocked: eSafety Commissioner Report.

Please remember to report any forms of cyberbullying to the College and, where possible, provide evidence such as screen recordings or screenshots with details of the account holders and comments made. It is unfortunate that we need to discuss this matter, but as our students' lives become more engrossed by social media, the inherent risks increase.

General Notices

Middle and Senior School  Co-Curricular Timetable:

At Calvary we believe that life at the College is more fulfilling and enjoyable when you are part of a community, involved and contributing. With this in mind, we encourage all parents/carers to review the co-curricular clubs timetable below with their children to see where they could 'find their place' at the College to express themselves and build a community with others who share common interests.

Uniform

There are still some stock and supply issues with The School Locker and we are aware that some students may not be able to purchase a formal or a sport jacket. Students are able to wear any Calvary jacket they have with the assigned uniform for the day.

There are also some formal uniform item sizes out-of-stock at the moment. If you are unable to source a full formal uniform for your child at the moment, they may wear a full sport uniform as a replacement until stock is replenished.

Necklaces – there are lots of variations of necklaces showing up at school. Necklaces need to be worn under the uniform and should not be visible (no chokers, short necklaces, etc.)

Group Photos:

Group Photos are scheduled for Thursday 25 July 2024 and Friday 26 July 2024. Can parents/carers please use the schedule for these days to please assist their children to arrive on time for their photos and be prepared with the correct uniform for the respective photos.

Chinchilla Donations:

The Year 9 students are travelling to Chinchilla in the last week of school this term to be of service to the Chinchilla community and present our Hygiene Product collections to Farm Angels. Farm Angels will use these donations to create care packages for farmers who are hard at work producing food for us and may not have the time or resources to care for themselves. Cafe Specials - Week 3 of Term 3

WE NEED YOU!!!!

At Calvary, you are invited to be an active partner in the education of your child/ren and we would like to invite you to provide us with feedback.

We are seeking feedback to help us get a greater understanding of what you value, what we are doing well and to hear about how your child's learning journey has been going.

This year we would like to invite you to attend an in-person session to talk with an external Marketing Consultant, Phil Winton. Phil has been working with the College as an external consultant since 2022.

The focus of these sessions will be to ask you a series of questions and work through and unpack your responses. This process will allow broader discussion and help provide us with a richer understanding of your feedback.

The Executive Leadership Team will not be made aware of who attended the sessions.

For parent registration, 3 sessions on Friday 26 July
