Dear Parents and Carers

Yesterday (Valentines Day) reminded me of how special our verse for 2024 is;  "Above all, love each other deeply." - 1 Peter 4:8

It’s easy to demonstrate our love on a special day, with pop up flower stalls along the road to remind us to show our love for one another. To love deeply, ongoingly, long term is hard, but we have a God who IS love who helps us grow in this.

Update - Happy Hens Café!

Happy Hens opened this week. Our Year 6 teams are very eager to develop their skills and serve in the café. It was lovely to see our community fill that space and enjoy connecting with each other over a coffee.

Thank you to those who have offered to help with tuck shop. Mondays are a day that we still need volunteers for. If you are available to assist, please email: sheryl.deoliveira@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

Camps

Years 7 -10 are currently on their annual camps. The camp program for Junior School begins in Year 4. Our Year 5 students are heading to Luther Heights, Coolum on 6 March. Students in Year 6 are travelling to Canberra in the first week of Term 2, and our Year 4 students are exploring a new venue, Tunnel Ridge, overnight on the 29 April. Camp is something that our students may have mixed feelings about, particularly if it is their first time away from home or family. It really is one of the best, resilience growing experiences for our children, not to mention the memories they make and incredible confidence they build.

Emma Tabacaru Parent Presentation

Guiding our children in a world where they are growing up with more information and content at their fingertips than ever before, can be a daunting thing. As parents, it is vital that we are deliberate, prepared and empowered to guide our children as they come up against the world’s messages about their bodies & sexuality.

Emma Tabacaru is presenting to all Calvary parents on 29 February. She will lead us through a faith - based conversation about stages of sexual development, from childhood through to young adult, empowering parents for conversations we need to be having with our young people.

On Monday 4 March Emma will be speaking with our Stage 3 Students.  The Year 5&6 session will be about Puberty and Year 6 will also hear about Babies & Bonding.

Please see more information about the Parent Sessions further down this communication.

Stage 2&3 Swimming Carnival

We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events.

Grandparents' Day - Breakfast Donations 2024

Springwood Campus' Grandparents' Day will be happening on Friday 1 March from 9.00am until first break.  All grandparents and grandparent representatives are welcome.  To celebrate we wish to bless our Grandparents with a breakfast on arrival at the college.  We would love our community’s support by asking  families to supply a small food platter containing breakfast foods.

Please ensure the plate of food is on a disposable plate.  A small dinner plate size is sufficient.   Small finger foods are best. Please do not bring in foods containing nuts.  Suggestions include:  muffins, croissants, cinnamon scrolls, scones with jam and cream, bagels and fruit platters.

Food can be brought straight to the undercover area after 8.00am where there will be tables set up.

We appreciate your support to make this event a success.
