Dear Parents and Carers,

Last night I had the privilege of taking several prospective families on a tour of the Junior School. It is always a pleasure to share our amazing College with parents and students looking for a particular type of educational experience, an experience that is committed to developing the whole child. We are proud of what we do and who we are and love sharing about the value of a Calvary education.

I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the amazing staff in the Junior School as without them this would not be possible. We have outstanding teachers and learning aides who go over and above for the students and families. As we come to the end of Term 3, I pray we finish strong.

Swimming

This week our Preps and some of our Stage 1 students have experienced an intensive week of swimming. Each day they have had a 1 hour swimming lesson. We do have some very tired little ones as we head into the end of Term. The remainder of the Stage 1 students will attend swimming lessons next week.

Showcase

Showcase is this Saturday evening and we have a large number of students involved across the College from Prep – Year 12. Book your tickets and enjoy seeing individual instrumental performances, as well as ensembles, orchestral and dance performances. The theme is Postcards from around the World, with students performing pieces from all different countries. Our senior school students are looking forward to hosting an entertaining and engaging event for the community on Friday night. We hope to see you there.

Stage 2 Expo

We are excited to have our Stage 2 Art and Poetry Expo in Week 10. Our students will be displaying Art and Poetry around inclusivity and diversity. We warmly welcome families and friends on Wednesday 13 September from 2.30pm – 3.30pm in the Stage 2 Learning Space.

Futsal

Our Futsal students are gearing up for the Futsal Cup next Thursday. This is hosted at Calvary. Thanks to Raul for organising such a wonderful event for our students.

Uniforms

We continue to have many uniform items end up in lost property. Please make sure your items are clearly labeled with your child’s name. Our College Leaders endeavour to get named lost property back to owners, however, increasingly we find that items are not named or were owned by a previous owner who is now in MSS or has left the College. At the end of Term, again we will sell off all unclaimed and unnamed items as a fundraiser for Compassion at the Western Carpark on Thursday 14 September.

As we head into the last week of Term. My hope is for extra energy and sustenance for our students, staff and families after another huge term.

Hygiene Product Collection

The Year 9 students are travelling to Chinchilla in the last week of school this term to be of service to the Chinchilla community and present our Hygiene Product collections to Drought Angels. Drought Angels will use these donations to create care packages for farmers that are hard at work producing food for us and may not have the time or resources to care for themselves. Year 9 students will visit Form classes regularly to collect the donations that will "Help us Help the Farmer that Feed Us". We ask that all Hygiene products (as listed on the poster) are sent to school by Friday 8 September 2023 to be able to be packed and sent with our Y9 students.

Group Photo Days - First week back in term 4

On the 4 and 5 of October the College will be taking group photos for those involved in various clubs, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The schedule for this will be published in next week's parent communications, but we ask parents to please take note of this date as these photos form a vital part of a student's school records and we are unable to photograph students that are not present on the day.
