Dear Parents and Carers

School holidays are almost upon us and I am so grateful for a fantastic term of learning with your children. As the Easter season approaches, I pray that you have time and space to stop and celebrate the great joy that Easter is. For us it means eternal life.

Easter Chapel

Our P-12 Easter chapel was a time of fun, fellowship and reflection. Thank you for coming along if you were able. Our Piccolos choir and many talented Junior School musicians performed for us, thank you to Mrs Kerryn Vezos who led this group and helped them to work as a team. Pastor Adam reminded us of the baggage we carry and the releasing of this baggage through the sacrifice of Jesus.

If you are looking for a place to celebrate Easter, Real Life Christian Church is holding its services over the Easter weekend. Further details are in our communication today.

Futsal Finals

On Wednesday, we sent 43 students to the futsal finals at Nissan Arena. Once again, our students played with passion and were able to grow their skills individually and as a team.

Congratulations to our amazing futsal teams who competed at the Australian Futsal Association Finals yesterday. Calvary Christian College had 6 teams competing in the final's day and displayed excellence in the way they played against the very best competition. The teams had previously qualified through to this knock out competition. Our year 11 and 12 year-old girls teams made it to the quarter finals. Our 10 year-old girls were knocked out in the semi-finals against their friends at Calvary Springwood. The 9 ,10 and 11 year-old boys all competed through to the quarter finals.

Well done to the amazing players from Calvary.

Prep Fun Run - Rescheduled

Due to wet conditions on Monday, we have scheduled our Prep Fun Run to Monday 22 April. Please see the attached letter with updated details.

Year 6 Canberra Trip

On Tuesday 16 April, our Year 6 students from both campuses are flying to Canberra to experience first-hand, our nation’s capital. As well as exploring new and old Parliament House, we have an itinerary packed with visits to the War Memorial, Australian Mint, Mt Stromio Observatory, CSIRO, AIS and more. Please pray for the safety and well-being of all who attend. It is a stretching, memorable and exciting experience for our young people.

Don’t forget to join our camp Facebook group to see our adventure through photos. Calvarycc Year6 Canberra 2024

Uniform Update

As we come into the cooler weather, it is lovely to see the new black jacket being worn by some students. Just a reminder that the green sports jacket is to go with the sports uniform and the black jacket (or purple jumper for a limited time) is to be worn with the formal uniform.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our families by the closure of School Locker. We have not received an update on when School Locker will be reopening. While School Locker is closed orders are online only with free shipping.

The College has a selection of the black jackets available for trying on. Over the holiday period the jackets can be tried on at the Carbrook Campus from 9am – 4pm. Please note the black jacket can only be worn with the formal uniform.

Staffing Update

Mrs Barclay (Sensei Barclay) has been on maternity leave and we thank Mrs Karunaratne (Sensei K) for continuing our Japanese program in her absence. Mrs Barclay will continue to spend time with her beautiful young family and will sadly not be returning to Calvary. A new staff member, Mrs Peel will be joining the team in Term 2 as our specialist Japanese teacher across both campuses for Prep – Stage 4. Mrs Peel has 18 years’ experience teaching Japanese at her previous school. I know our staff, parents and students will make her feel at home quickly.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Zoe O'Donnell
Acting Head of Junior School - Carbrook
