Dear Parents and Carers,

The Junior School has come together to enjoy many events that have grown our students’ communication and collaboration this week. It is exciting to see the learning habits lived out in engaging and real-world experiences by our students from prep all the way through to year 6.

Year 5 Camp

Our year 5 students adventured to Luther Heights at Coolum from Monday - Wednesday. They worked together through collaboration to face a series of challenges to build team work within the group. The flying fox was a group highlight, with many of our students encouraging one another and leading the way for those who were not quite as confident. The students experienced rain and stormy conditions but did not let that stop their comradery or attitude to making the experience fun and memorable.

Grandparents’ Day

Today our Prep and Stage 1 students were able to spend some quality time with grandparents whilst at school, as we invited in grandparents to be a part of our morning’s learning. The role of grandparents in our student’s lives is one that we do not take lightly. We value the connection and the opportunity for our students to showcase how they are learning and what they are excited about learning about.

Mother’s Afternoon Celebration

On Friday afternoon, our Mango Café and Pavilion area was transformed into a picnic, table tennis, craft making hub where our students were able to celebrate the special mothers and mother figures in their lives. It was precious to see so many students proudly taking their mums around and connecting at each of the activities.

From the Farm

If you are down on the Calvary farm in the next few days, you will hear the distinct sound of new ewe mothers calling their lambs. Yes, we have new snuggly lambs being born and some more to come. Farmer H will be excited to introduce the new Calvary additions to our students in the coming weeks.

Bookfair

If you would still like to view and purchase from the bookfair, it will be open for the first hour tomorrow from 8.00am - 9.00am. Each year, this is one of our largest fundraising activities. Each purchase made, provides Scholastic points for our school which we use to purchase books to stock up the library.

Step Up to Middle School

The best way to make decisions for the future is to be well informed. This event will be held at the Carbrook campus tonight (Thursday 18 May). It’s for students and parents to come and learn about Middle School life, ask questions, meet key staff members, and check out the Year 7 space. It's not too late to book in for tonight.

Calvary Hype Reel - now in the Cinemas!

We are really proud of our school and want to show the world who Calvary is. So, over the last few months, we have been busy creating a showcase reel to share with the wider community, both on social platforms and at every movie screening at the Hyperdome Cinemas from May-July 2023.

We want to say a MASSIVE thank you for everyone's involvement. Videos like this don't get created without many hands being involved. From the Principal and Heads of School, through to teachers, students and marketing crew. For context, there were over 200 students involved in the intro aerial sequence who did the same action over and over for 2hrs straight!

And, a special thank to our teachers who make an appearance, and especially our speaking video cast, Sienna Long, Luke Thomson, Kaela Cerezo, Olivia Tillman, Spencer Mattila-Gonda, Giuliana Arraiol, Seeley Florey, and Lara Morton. You guys were amazing (and patient).
