Dear Parents and Carers

We are almost ready to wrap up Term 2. This week has highlighted to me the incredible capability that your children have as learners. Our Stage Expos displayed our students’ journey through the concept of Change from Prep right to Stage 3. I felt so proud of the level of investment and motivation displayed by our students which has helped take their learning from good to great.

Staffing Update - Dance and Music

We are so excited to share with you that next term we will have a dance instructor starting at the College. Isabella Palmer joins us with a long list of qualifications and industry experience. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has specialised in RAD teaching along with formal training in jazz, tap, contemporary and performance dance. Miss Palmer will be working with each of the Junior School classes across both Carbrook and Springwood and will also continue building the dance program in our Middle and Senior School. The Australian Curriculum calls for our students to experience dance as an expression and we can’t wait to see Miss Palmer bring this to life with each of our classes.

The Junior School classroom Music program is in the very creative hands of Mrs Vezos during Term 3 as Miss Feilla continues to take leave. Mrs Vezos will be leading the Piccolo choir and supporting other areas of the Performing Arts program as needed.

Jnr Showcase

On Friday night, our CAPA students were able to experience and contribute to live performance. The quality of items showcased was exceptional and a testament to the hard work put in by the students, their families and also the CAPA department. If you are interested in taking up an instrument (or perhaps another instrument) next term, please follow the link below to register interest.

Calvary Futsal Cup

Today, we have had over 60 Stage 2 & 3 students participate in the annual Calvary Futsal Cup. This is a game play opportunity for students with all skill levels and focuses on game and character development. Thank you to Mr Linning for organising this event and to the Teachers and Learning Aides who helped make this happen.

Beenleigh Zone Athletics

On Monday, we sent 26 students off to compete at the Beenleigh Zone Athletics day 1. From this, 16 students qualified to represent Calvary at the finals day which will be held tomorrow. This is an outstanding result for Calvary. We wish these students well tomorrow!

Uniform Update

Whilst School Locker has reopened, there are still some stock shortages, particularly with the jackets. In response to this, we understand that students may not have the correct jacket for the correct uniform, we do ask that students wear a Calvary jacket of any variety. Please be reminded that we ask for hair to be tied up if it reaches the collar and for earrings to be plain gold or silver studs or sleepers.

Prep Excursion

The first week of Term 3, on Thursday 11 July, our Prep students will be going on an excursion to explore the Museum and Spark Lab. This is always a great day filled with exciting discoveries and valuable learning experiences.

College Group Photos

Group photos are scheduled for the 25 and 26 of July 2024.

The number of groups or clubs will be reduced to those representing leadership at the College, groups that have already performed or competed and those that are yet to perform or compete. The schedule for this will be shared during the first week back next term. The majority of Junior School photos will be taken on Thursday 25 July, and most of the Middle and Senior School photos the following day.

Free Dress Day/ Compassion Fundraiser!

Tomorrow, all our students are invited to wear their Pjs, an Oodie, or just plain clothes for free dress day. We ask all students to bring a gold coin donation as we continue to support our compassion students. Every donation counts!

Don’t forget free dress day expectations apply.

Supporting the Chinchilla Community

We would like to join with the Middle Senior School in collecting donations for Chinchilla.

Chinchilla Donations:

The Year 9 students are travelling to Chinchilla during the last week of school in Term 3 to serve the Chinchilla community and present our Hygiene Product collections to Drought Angels. Drought Angels will use these donations to create care packages for farmers who are hard at work producing food for us and may not have the time or resources to care for themselves. Year 9 students will visit Form classes regularly to collect the donations that will "Help us Help the Farmers that Feed Us". We ask that all Hygiene products (as listed below) be sent to school and High School students will collect these each morning starting from Monday 20 May 2024:

  •  Manicure set – nail files, nail clippers, polish, cuticle oil.
  •  Pedicure set – foot file, toenail clippers, foot scrub, foot cream.
  •  Bath set – bath bomb, gel eye mask, tea light candle, body wash 400ml, body scrub max 400ml, body moisturiser 400ml max.
